Questions concerning paper #1

How long should our rough drafts be? What is the maximum amount of pages must we shoot for?

On the day that it is due, do you want us to submit our papers through email or would you like it for us to print it out and hand it in class?

Is there an option to redo our papers?

If I can only choose one thing to represent myself, it must be this picture. I took it from somewhere else two months ago (of course I didn’t draw it J). I’m lazy and procrastinated during breaks, festivals and anytime when I’m home on my own. But I’m also smart enough to figure out how to get everything around me while staying in bed. So obviously this picture can easily show how lazy I am that I don’t even want to just get out of my bed and get thing I want, even it may actually cost me less efforts.
And I also have some photos of little animals posted on my Facebook. These photos show how much I love animals like cats, dogs and bunnies.
Base on all these photos, people can get to know that I am smart person with a strong passion for life.

I really enjoyed this photo that you posted mainly because I’ve gotten a good laugh from it. On days when I’m very laid back and get extremely discouraged from doing anything productive, I try to get everything all in one place so I won’t have to get up more than once. We all have our lazy days and that’s perfectly fine.

Facebook.

Choose an item or two that you are using to create a version of yourself. Write a paragraph how those things work to create a version of you – what version is it? Why did you choose those things?

My Facebook profile picture is a good representation of who I am, because shows the rest of the world about my looks. First impressions are everything, and my profile picture is one of which that provides that. Also under my personal information I have listed my study in school, what school I attend to, and the languages I speak. All of which tells everyone a little bit more about my background and experience.

#1 Eat, Pray, Love/Spend

How is the “reality” of soul-seeking presented in Eat, Pray, Love? What kinds of words are used to create this version of reality? What about in Eat, Pray, Spend? How does this version of reality differ from the one presented in Eat, Pray, Love?

The main character uses the following concepts to illustrate the reality of soul-seeking in “Eat, Pray Love”: arati (morning prayer practiced by Indian women), Yoga/Yogis, and Guru. All of which has triggered the meaning of life in various ways.  She also talked about how each contributes to our spiritualities as human beings and how that brings upon real happiness. Yoga is one method to bring upon happiness. How so? Well…according to the reading it allows ourselves to stay in-tuned with our bodies and as a result, we have an equal balance of our mind and bodies. Which is especially important for us  as human beings to find that peace within. And may I add, it works!! I have started to practice Yoga a few times a week in the past and found that it helped me relax entirely. I find it very helpful to do especially during stressful times — whether it is school or work, or other personal occurrences. Yoga helps me feel stress-free.

In contrast to “Eat, Pray, Love”, “Eat, Pray, Love/Spend” emphasis more about the luxuries society exploits in media. “Eat, Pray, Love” talks about a women leaving her comfortable existence to find true happiness from within. Whereas, the contrasting article discusses about materialism. The freedom for women to spend money is a way to embrace independence as it allows the free-will to purchase anything without much approval from others. Their hard work pays off, and these women gets to decide how to spend their fortune. This article also makes a good point about true happiness. ” …the hardest economic times in decades pinch our budgets, our spirits, we’re told, can still be rich.” Not only implying towards women but to the general population. Healthy spending can easily come if we all seek to find satisfaction within ourselves. We can be broke and still be happy..
